I sent my computer in to Ztronics with the understanding that I was paying a $98 flat rate to get the motherboard fixed. The advertisement specifically states "Flat rate laptop repair" at http://service.ztronics.com/ Notice in the small print it mentions an additional $25 for shipping. It turns out that I sent them my laptop and the hundred bucks to get it fixed. I called checking on it a couple of times but nobody could give me specifics. After a couple of weeks I finally got a call from them from the technician. He had fixed my computer but it was going to cost an additional $255 to get it back. He had never called before they began working on it. He claimed that the advertised flat rate was diagnostic only. I ended up paying the additional price because I needed my computer. The issue was that the monitor was not working but in my notes I had asked the technician to fix the sound as well. He did not fix the sound. The monitor does work and the computer is functioning other than the integrated sound.
I would like to have been notified of the increased cost of the repair and a clearer advertisement regarding the "flat rate". I would also have the sound fixed as I had requested.
