I was given a quote of $1720 for an estimated weight of 4,000 lbs. The quote promised no hidden fees, and the first set of stairs free. When the movers arrived, they decided to charge me for stairs despite it being clearly stated on my paperwork that the first set is free ($75). They also charged me for packing tape which was listed nowhere on the "no hidden cost" policy. Then they proceeded to run through many rolls of tape around my blanketed furniture which I have never seen done before by any company. ($36) I was also charged for mattress covers whcih were not mentioned anywhere and the included blankets could have done the job just as well ($50). Then the driver decided to charge me extra for one of my cat trees despite it already being charged for in the quote ($103.95). This was charged as an "additional item" regardless of already being in there. In between the pick-up and delivery, I was given the run around when trying to discover my actual move weight, my paperwork says the minimum charge is for 2,000 lbs and the charge is for actual weight. I was finally told that the weight was actually 3680 lbs which should have cost me $1565.20, instead they charged me for 4,000 lbs or $1720.00 (137.60 extra). Once I arrived at my new apartment, the driver started to refuse to deliver unless I paid him an additional $75 for being more than 75 feet. I am not more than 75 feet from where they parked, but I had to pay or not get my stuff ($75). He then left without giving me a receipt to go along with the other dishonest mehtods this company uses.
I have contacted the company multiple times regarding this and it has become ever more difficult to get a response. I contacted them on Jan 26, 27 Feb 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 19th. I have not gotten a satisfying response.
I want a refund of the overcharged amount. I have no problem with the legal charges for the actual weight and the additional packing for my bed, but all the other additional charges were wrong. $477.55 was charged incorrectly.
