MOVING PROBLEMS WITH NATIONWIDE VAN LINES
10 REASONS NOT TO USE NATIONWIDE VAN LINES FOR YOUR MOVE
1. We used Nationwide because of the price we were given over the phone. However, they don't send anyone out to see exactly what you have. They just send you forms which you fill out and go over with them over the phone. PROBLEM #1. Work with a company that comes out to view exactly what you have.
2. The head mover looked around at everything and said the price was on target. He said that on the second day too all the way up to around 8:00PM and then began to say we might go over a little. By 11:30PM we were up 25% more. Of course we complained but it was too late to get anyone on the phone, we were exhausted as it was almost midnight and we were closing the next morning. PROBLEM #2 We should have told them we wanted them to remove everything from the truck to decide what we weren't going to take. But they got you when it's so late and they know you are closing the next morning.
3. The movers arrived in Florida on time. It was pouring out. We had to ask for them to things down so not to walk through the house with all the water. There was no respect for our home. PROBLEM #3
4. Since our boxes were not marked we had no idea what was in the boxes as they put kitchen stuff in with shoes. PROBLEM #4
5. We had them leave the boxes in the garage as we had no idea what was in each box. They said they had another stop that same day. However, they have you sign a paper that you received everything and was okay. It is not feasible to go through every single box to make sure nothing is damaged and everything is there. PROBLEM #5. I would recommend that you make the movers stay until you have gone through every single box. Our movers told us they had another stop after us so there was no way we would have been able to go through everything before they left. Later on when we filed a claim we were told since the items were not said to be missing or damaged at time of delivery we would not be compensated. Maybe by doing this the movers can see what they are asking you to sign is not possible!
6. As we went through our boxes we discovered items like Hummel's that were not wrapped and just put in a box are arrived broken. We saw that small items like legs they took off a leather couch were missing, pieces from a crystal chandelier were missing, etc. We contacted Nationwide right away and got the run around. I called and sent emails to the CEO, Tali Maskalik, for help but she never responded to anything. Instead she had Manny Torres, Sr. Relocation Consultant, contact us. At this point we were so frustrated at the lack of help we had put a hold on the credit card payment. Manny said unless we released the payment he could not help us. We also spoke with Gideon, from Customer Relations, who told us to file a claim with CSI. PROBLEM #6
7. CSI was recommended by Nationwide. It is very confusing because they called them "insurance". However we find out we paid for a company to do an evaluation on our possessions. So when we paid for "FULL VALUE" it is not full value that you get. PROBLEM #7 I am posting another complaint about CSI around this move as they have been just as bad a Nationwide.

8. We now had no choice but to file a claim through CSI. They give you 9 months to complete the form. We had over a $35,000 claim so it took a lot of time. We filed the claim in December 2013, and we are still going back and forth with CSI. PROBLEM #8
9. Nationwide kept saying that they did not pack our things we did. Because of that, our settlements were not accurate. We paid for their "premium" packing which was over $2,000 of a $11,000 move! Just recently they said they did pack our items! However, we are still fighting with CSI for many other things that I will write a separate review for. I would recommend not using CSI if you work with Nationwide. Please see my review of them on YELP. PROBLEM #9
10. I wanted to post this now even though nothing has been finalized because once you accept a settlement you have to remove any negative post you have put up. PROBLEM #10. What that means to you....as you look through the different posts you are not seeing everything because anyone who has accepted a settlement would have had to take down anything negative that they said. Be very leery when you see a lot more positive than negative posts. It's not real!! So unfortunately all your research about this company is not giving you the full picture.
