This is only part of the catastrophe that was my moving experience with this HORRIBLE company. They packed my items by literally THROWING everything from custom-framed, artist signed wall art in with my dustbuster and a candy dish into the *same box*, unwrapped, and unlabeled. When I questioned their methods they referred to my items as "junk" and didn't understand why I was complaining.
There was a written quote before the move of $3062. A down payment of $1636 was made and the total due upon delivery according to the “Moving Quote” was $1,426 the amount due. When they arrived at the new location, they suddenly said more was owed, and they weren’t going to release the items off of the moving van until more was paid. I WAS STUNNED!!! I tried to contact the company several times, and they would not return phone calls. As it turns out we were victims of a moving scam and EVERYTHING on the above website happened to us. Had I seen this before the move another company would have been used. I was later told that this company has done business under other names, and has changed their business names a few times recently in order to maintain their BBB rating. WHICH BY THE WAY.... I used them in July of 2009, and THEY WERE DOING BUSINESS AS "HURRICANE MOVERS" OUT OF DALLAS, AS WELL AS ELI TRANSPORT OUT OF FLORIDA!! SINCE JULY (As of November of 2009) THE BBB IN DALLAS HAS FLUNKED THEM AND HAS REVOKED THEIR ACCREDITATION!!!!! And their rating has fallen here in Florida since I used them July. It steadily falls until they are revoked and then they pick up stakes and start the scam all over again.
One of the movers that day quietly admitted that they get complaints about this sudden payment change all of the time, but people are usually too worn out in the end to fight them. I am hoping that this will not happen to other people. I am contacting the Better Business Bureau in Dallas too and reporting them to every association they claim to be members of (or not) in order to warn others of this company.
I REPEAT: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! You are an idiot if you do.
