A lovely dress that just didn't fit but it was the customer service that was the real disappointment.
In July I needed a very specific type of dress for a wedding and found what I thought would be a perfect dress online and contacted the owner of the shop, Belinda. She was very prompt in returning my original email and appeared to be very knowledgable
about the dress size I wanted. I was unsure if I was a 1X ora 2X so I sent her all my measurements. She assured me I was a 1X so I ordered the dress on July 29th. Two weeks went by and I had not received the dress so I emailed her with my question of when
I could expect it. She said there was a mix up since she was so busy and must have forgotten to order it. i was very concerned since the wedding was the end of August. A week later it arrived by Fed Ex and it did not fit. I cried. I emailed her and she said
she could fix it and to send it back to her. We were getting very close to the date of the wedding at this point. I sent it back express mail and even included a prepaid envelope for her to mail it back to me. I also sent photos by email of me in the dress
so she could see where the problems were, as embarrassing as that was for me. She finally Fed Exed the dress to me and I received it on Wednesday evening before the wedding. I cried again. It did not fit And the fabric did not match. Shiny lavender satin with
a dusty matte crepe. I had to go shopping for another dress on the way up to the wedding. I emailed Belinda about the disappointment and she agreed a refund was in order, however, even though I have mailed the dress back to her she has not responded to my last
two emails requesting payment. I paid by PayPal but she could as easily mail me a check. She was fine with sending me her address to mail the dress to. All I want is to be refunded the cost of the dress; I am not even asking for the shipping costs. If she
ever refunds my money, I'll let you know. Here is just a few of the emails we exchanged. From me to Belinda when I first got the dress and her response. She was very sure she could fix the problem: Belinda, the dress arrived this afternoon and yes it is lovely.
The only problem is that the measurements of the under slip are so exact there is no room to wiggle. It is very snug across the back causing a fold in the fabric and the hips and waist fit me like a glove (not is a flattering way) There is no room to let it
out and I fear I will be very hot in Hopland in August. It is true that the overdress skims my body but I was not expecting the underdress to be so very tight. That is why I sent my measurements and questioned if I was a 1X. I don't know how much bigger the
2X is and I certainly don't want to swim in the overdress but I really wish you had been more exact or told me the under dress was form fitting. It would have made a difference to me. Perhaps you can use this information for the future.Women with full figures
need breath too. Belinda Aug 14 to me HI! Thank you for the info.... Oh gosh....yes, sometimes those underslips are not exact. I have altered them before by just putting a triangle piece of fabric in the side seam under the armpit...? not sure if you have
anyone that can do that...? it might make all the difference, I think the 2x would have bee really big on you.... sorry about that! I can do that for you quickly if you want to send it back..? Belinda Yes, I make wedding gowns...that's mostly what I do is
sew. that is the only line of dresses I carry that I don't make... so I could adjust the slip for you very easily.....if you want to pop the slip in an express envelope and I will do it and send right back... just let me know! thx belinda Here is the email
I sent to her after I received the dress the second time and her response. Belinda, I have been agonizing over how to say to you that I was more than disappointed in the alteration you did to my dress. Not only was the color clearly not mauve, it was shiny
lavender satin which stood out and looked patched when I put it with the over dress. It was still tight and the fold in the back was still there. My conclusion is that this dress, although described as a plus size, was really just an enlarged form of the dress
for a much slimmer person. I know you special order these dresses but being a dressmaker yourself I would expect you to be able to see the discrepancy here. My first thought is why were there no darts for the bust line to allow it to fall more gracefully and
not cling to the body. And then there is the basic cut that would have benefited from a more A-line to allow for the extra that most plus size women have to deal with. I gave you everything I could to help make the alteration go smoothly. Not only my measurements
but also the pictures so you could see where the problems were. Needless to say, I did not wear the dress to my niece's wedding. My husband took me to the Mall and I had to find something to wear on the drive up to the wedding. I finally found an 18W dress,
which is a 1X, that I could wear, costing me another $200. I took the dress you sent with me to get a second opinion from my sister and she agreed that it was not an acceptable alteration. The shiny satin stripe showed through the overdress. I expected a better
result from a professional. So here I sit with a dress that cost me $195 for a special occasion that I could not bring myself to wear. What a disappointment. Given all the difficulties with this transaction and resultant additional expenditure on my part,
I think a refund is in order. Regards, Johnni Sep 6 to Belinda Belinda, I am wondering if you are going to respond to my email from August 30? I think a reply would be appropriate. Belinda Sep 6 to me HI, sorry. having a really rough couple of weeks... you
know, I should have never, ever, ever said I would alter that dress. once I opened and saw that color on the liner I knew there would be no way to match it. unless I wanted to travel to india where they made it and try to get a scrap. my husband took it to
joanns fabric and the women who worked there found the closest match. there was just not way to match it. rarely does that dress not fit someone, I think you were in between the sizes. this too small, the next size probably too big. regardless, you couldn't
use it and now it pretty much useless....but I guess I will take it as an expensive lesson. I will refund you when I have some extra funds....sorry it didn't work out, Belinda And finally: Belinda, I think I should have heard from you by now since it has been
3 weeks since our last exchange. I asked you if you would like me to return the dress and would you be sending me a check or refunding through Paypal. I haven't received notification from Paypal that money has been deposited. Please respond and tell me when
I can expect to receive my refund. Your last email was too vague for me. Thank you, Johnni Sent from my iPad Belinda Oct 9 to me HI, Sorry crazy wedding gown sewing time over here..... If you want to return it, I will put my info below. I can probably mix
it with a stretchy slip and give it to someone. once I get it back I will either send a check or paypal you.. thx belinda And finally: Belinda, please let me know when you will be sending me a check or refunding my paypal account. This is not fun to keep emailing
you and getting no response. I know you are busy but I am a customer too and I don't think you are showing good customer service by not refunding my money now that you have received the dress back. Thank you, Johnni It is now November 3rd. What do You think?
Should I be upset about this? Finally, I contacted paypal last night at 4;30pm pacific time and they sent an email to Belinda even though it was beyond the timeframe where they could intervene. My money had been refunded to paypal by 6:30 pm. Apparently she
does read her emails. Her email to me was simply "refund sent through Paypal…" Nothing more and nothing less.

Business's response - by Belinda B.on 11/6/2013
Thank you Johnni, a retired lady from California with an over abundance of time on your hands....for writing the most epic rant about nothing - perhaps in the history of the internet. You win!! Btw, this is a Nataya dress, not a dress I make. You proclaim in your order you are difficult to fit....why pray tell do you then order a non-returnable dress online? She is in-between the sizes. The dress does not fit. I make the *mistake* of offering to alter it for her in my craziest month of all time, sending my husband and daughter to the fabric shop to get something to alter it with. The ladies there pick the closest thing to even remotely match the dress, which is dyed and made in India. I do my best given the circumstances, and she hates it. So yes, I take awhile to refund her....After I lose about $300 because of her, and have been nothing but nice to her, and then refund her and eat her dress...she leaves me this "novel" of a review. In my personal opinion, I feel you may have issues, Johnni of California....please shop at a store next time and save us all the trouble...? Thank you. Next time if you have a complaint with a business, maybe leave a short review that is to the point. Not one that possibly makes you seem a bit say, irrational?
